Mixing it up

Hi there my crafty friends.. it's a Wednesday and I had some time to work on a couple of scrapbook pages for my beautiful daughters...

I created this page using some single sheets of paper from Michael's.  I used punched flowers around the pages and used a little acrylic paint to touch up the edges.  I used modeling clay and a stencil to add the "chicken wire" effect to the page.  Recollection flower and border trim around the picture.  Used dragonfly cut out covered with dimensional glue for gloss.

I created this page using some of the same techniques.  I put modeling paste and stencil on the page and spritzed it with tattered angels and home made glimmer mist.  I punched out flowers as well and sprayed them.   I used modeling paste around the picture as well to blend it into the background.  I'm still learning but I'm happy with the outcome of the page.  The page design gave the layout the right amount of color in the background.

On this layout, I used Stampin Up coral blue paper topped it with a purple scalloped piece of light paper.  I curled the edges inward for some dimension. I added a large punched flower to the back of the  matted picture and surrounded the picture with both flowers from Michaels, butterflies,
recollection flowers and a few buttons... I spritzed the entire page with Perfect Pearls Interference Red for the glimmer.    Using rope pearls I adhered them to the page with hot glue... there is a bit of gesso around the picture and sides of the paper to lighten areas.

Thanks for stopping by... hope you all have a wonderful day!

Health update...A scare and a 2nd & 3rd opinion

Hi all.. it's been a while since I chatted with you all. I do miss those times when we did chat but I wanted to give you an update on my health.

I had a serious cancer scare for the last 3 weeks.  I woke up 3 weeks ago, the day before my 63rd birthday which for some reason my friends forgot ... :-).  I put my arm down on the bed to get up and got a sharp pain in my right shoulder.  I thought it was bursitis and treated it as such for a couple of days. When things got worse, I went to the ER who took an x-ray of the "wrong"part of the arm and sent me home with a diagnosis of tendonitis.  After another 2 days I went to see my primary, who sent me to a specialist, who sent me for an MRI of my neck, full body scan, an arthrogram of my right shoulder and a MRI of the right shoulder.   He called last week to tell me there was lesions on my bone in the arm.  Now, you don't get "lesions/cancer" of the bone.. it's a side effect of a cancer some where else in the body that spreads to the bone. So for 2 weeks or so, I was under the impression I had cancer, somewhere.  Thank goodness, when I went back to my primary, he found me another orthopedic surgeon that looked at my total body scan and couldn't find not one lesion. What was thought to be a lesion is a defect from, get this.. a broken humeral head with cartilage floating in the shoulder and  a large defect from the injury.   In other words, my shoulder is broken.  NO Cancer.!!! it's worth a 2nd or 3rd opinion when some one tells you that.  At 63, I'm told I'm too young to have had this happen but I was on long term steroids for Sarcoidosis in my lungs (about 15 years) so the Prednisone caused this issue.. Mostly it's in older women in there 80's and it's their hips.. Thank God they are intact.  :-)

For my friends who sent kind words and encouragement, thank you so much.

My mantra is..

Looking Up! I Believe!

I know you see me
I know your there,
But in my heart it’s not fair.
If I look up I see the sky,
And I know up there
It’s hard to hide.
The sky is soft blue,
With white milky clouds,
How can you be in a place
Not found?
In the end,
I fall to my knees
Close my eyes and think of thee.
If you are who you say to be,
Then please oh please take care of me.
Cause I believe!

If I have offended anyone ... I ask your forgiveness because I am sure I had not idea that I had done it.

I created a name plate for my swap partner on MPDS. Cee is her name and she is know around the scrapbooking sites sometimes as "Diva Cee".  She has been a great help to me and I have enjoyed making this for her.  There are more descriptions on my blog but I did this video just to point out some of the techniques I've learned and used in creating this.  I hope she like is.

Have you read this book.  It is a really good book to have in your bookshelf.

Good night!

Busy hands... yes have..even when I'm under the weather..

Hi my crafty friends,

Long time, no speak too or hear from. I hope you all had a wonderful and egg-citing Easter. I finally made it too the big 63 last week and for that I'm so blessed and grateful. Thank you to those who remembered and sent their best wishes. I have also been fighting a flu for the last 8 days and a "sore" right shoulder so crafting has been a "pain" to say the least. Here are a few things I finished and a swap I completed and sent to my partner. I hope you like them. Have a blessed week everyone.

Altered Egg-Crate - I created this for Cee, my partner.

My grand-daughter, who is autistic and turned 5 on Saturday loves her B

While I was down with the flu, I tried my hand at altering a shoe! I love how it turned out.#1

To celebrate the official coming of spring in the US and the UK, we bring you a sweet new blog hop, "Sweet as Spring!" Start at Design House Digital blog and visit a bunch of blogs belonging to Design House Digital artists - designers & creative team members.  At each blog, you will learn something new from one of our Design House Artists.

Sweet as Spring: A Blog Hop Treasure

Twelve designers contributed a total of 67 elements, 51 papers and 4 alpha sets and this gorgeous kit and the treasure is worthy of the journey.  But in addition, everyone who downloads the kit before Wednesday, March 27 will also be entered into a drawing for a $15 gift certificate to the Design House Digital shop!

We have a challenge for you too; build something amazing on your own!  Using just the Sweet as Spring collaboration kit (and your own photos, of course) create your own project and put it into our  Sweet as Spring Challenge Gallery.  If  you post your project before April 17th, you will be entered into another drawing for a $15 gift certificate to the Design House shop but the challenge gallery will remain open afterwards and we would love to see your layouts any time.

Easel Card

Hi all,
Today I decided to use a paper pack that I have had for a long time and create something.  So I dug out my DCWV Lady Couture Stack.  I was also challenging myself to create a easel card.  I attempted it a while back and was unsuccessful so I thought I would try again.
Here is my card.. i'm quite pleased with it.
Thanks for stopping by!

Modpodge Friday Night ScrapNChat

March 15th

We had a ScrapNChat and the challenge was:  Color palette & Card Challenge. The recipe of must haves on the card were:
  • Ribbon
  • Stickles
  • Brads
  • Flower
We were given 3 color palettes to work with so I chose the #2 color palette which was greens & yellows.  We had to use our stash so imagine having to go through all of your paper packs and scraps to find the color to create with.   I finally came up with a card that had all the requirements.

Here is my card:
Paper from Colorbok, RicRac Ribbon, Paper flowers and Rub-on by Heidi Grace

The sentiment is from a 'stampendous" stamp which says 'enjoy'

It was a fun card to make.. ...

Next weeks challenge promises to be a lot of fun.. come on over and join us.  Friday Night ScrapN Chat.. 8:00PM EST - 11:00PM EST.  ModpodgeDesignscraps.com.
